TERM 4 – WELCOME BACK FOR A FUN FILLED AND EXCITING TERM.  Please hold on to this newsletter as it contains much vital information about the concert.

If you have completed a re-enrolment form there is no need to attend on this day.  Secondhand uniforms and shoes will be available to purchase on this day.  If you have any items that you wish to sell, please see Miss Vallette and we will arrange for them to be displayed for sale at the enrolment day.

Mon 5 February                         Term 1 2007 commences

 

REENROLMENT FOR 2007  should be looked at during this term.  As numbers have continued to climb this year we do recommend that you reenrol your child if you wish her to continue dance with us.  Reenrolment forms will be on the front desk from the beginning of this term.  Please include a $20 registration fee with your enrolment to hold your place.  Please also note that this is NOT taken off Term 1 fees, and is an additional cost to your fees.

LOST PROPERTY is building up in the lost property box at the studio.  Please check the box for your child’s belongings in the first week of term.  From Saturday 14 October, any remaining lost property will be donated to Lifeline for sale.

EXAMINATION RESULTS have arrived for the RAD graded examinations.  We did not receive one result under a merit across the whole studio in our graded examinations and the highest mark was awarded to Camille Warfield for her Grade 6 examination.  Camille received 95% Distinction- congratulations Camille. RAD Majors results have also just arrived. Results generally reflected the effort put in by each student and we are thrilled with our great results.  Congratulations to all students.   Please see your teacher if your child has not received her certificate yet.  SFD Jazz and Tap results should not be too far away.

EXAMINATION PHOTOGRAPHS Proofs of photographs taken of your child will be available in the front foyer in the first week of term.  A sitting fee of $12 will be charged to you for this photograph and you have a choice of 1 (one) shot for this fee.  If you would like to order more than this, you will be able to place your order when you choose your shots.  Please make any cheques for the initial sitting fee out to Dance Central.  This must be paid on ordering. Any cheques for further photographs should be made out to Shane Richards Photography. Unfortunately Shane was not available for the SFD Jazz and Tap examination photos.  However, I have taken photographs of all students on this day and if you would like a copy, please write your name in the parent’s book and I will order one for you.

DRAMA CLASSES will not be held at Junior level in Term 4

COSTUME FABRIC for the show is still at the studio for many students.  Please note that you need to collect this fabric and trace off a pattern for your child’s costume  Costumes need to be made ready for costume showing day on Saturday 4 November.  Please do not worry too much about hem lengths and sequins are this information will be handed out on this day.

A DVD of the Mary Poppins performance will be available for order at the studio.  The cost for this is $38/DVD.  DVD order forms are available at t the studio and must be returned to us with your money by Sunday 3 December at the lastest.  Please state whether you would like a Matinee or Evening performance DVD. For those of you who had a problem with their DVD last year, and had to have it replaced, we are not using the same reproduction firm in Brisbane again this year!!!

PHOTOGRAPHS    will be taken by Mr Shane Richards during the rehearsal and performance process.  Please note that if you would Shane to take a photo of your child please contact him to arrange this. With 400 students involved in the production, he can only do his best to take as many people’s photographs as he can.  Avoid any disappointment by booking a time to have your child’s photo taken.  Shane will at the studio taking photos on Saturday 18 and Saturday 25 November.  Please call him on 0419024831 to arrange a sitting time.

TICKETS for Mary Poppins are on sale at the Empire Theatre.  Please note that you do not need to buy a ticket for your child.  The younger grades (Pre school ballet, Pre Primary Ballet, Primary Ballet Pre jazz, Level 1 and 2 tap and Level 1 Jazz)  do not do both shows The show that has been allocated to your child has been on the board at the studio since the end of last term.  This information is also at the Empire Theatre box office.  All other students perform in BOTH shows.

TIMETABLES may have changed this term from Week 2 (16 October) for your child.  Please take the time to either check the website or check on the noticeboard at the studio. While I attempt to make sure that things stay as stable as possible this term, it is necessary to make some changes to stage our show.  Saturday rehearsal schedules will be posted on the noticeboard.  I will not call the younger levels until absolutely necessary, but rest assured that when I do – it is to make sure that all students are comfortable with their roles in the show.

VOLUNTEERS are needed for both performances to work backstage.  If you would like to assist us with supervision at performances and/or dress rehearsals please place your name and number in the parents book and I will contact you  A meeting will beheld at the studio on Friday 24 November at 6.15pm to allocate duties.

 

CONCERT DAY is nearly on hand.  For those of you who have been involved with us for some years you will have some idea as to how things are run. Please take note of the concert information below.

DRESS REHEARSAL – FRIDAY 1 DECEMBER

Please ensure that your child is at the stage door of the theatre at least 30 minutes prior to the time that they are needed.  Stage Door is accessed via Julia Street off Neil Street.  PLEASE NOTE THAT UNLESS YOU HAVE BEEN ASKED TO ASSIST NO PARENTS ARE PERMITTED BACKSTAGE

GENERAL INFORMATION

FINAL INFORMATION FOR THE YEAR.

The break up day is held at the studio on Sunday 3 December from 1pm until 4pm.  Please come along.  Bring a plate and join us to say goodbye for the year and to celebrate a great concert.  We will provide Beer and Wine for mums and dads and soft drink for the students.

QUESTIONS???  If anyone has any questions, which I am sure will arise, please put them in the parents book. I will contact you to speak to you in answer to any queries that you may have.  Calling me at the studio is not always successful in this busy term, so I apologise in advance – the parents book is a guaranteed way of my answering any questions that you may have.
